10,000 rooftops and counting: the bank built for sunshine passes a bright milestone
Ken LaRoe founded Climate First Bank on a wager: that people would borrow to put sunshine on their own roofs if the loan was fair and simple. The Florida bank has now financed more than 10,000 home solar installations across 44 states — enough panels to generate an estimated 328 gigawatt-hours of clean power a year, roughly the annual use of tens of thousands of homes. Homeowners get predictable bills, the grid gets power where it is used, and a small bank gets to prove that climate finance is very much alive.
The upbeat factorten thousand ordinary rooftops, quietly generating power and lower bills.
