100 countries, one promise: every child climate-ready
At COP31, UNESCO's Greening Education Partnership reached its 100th country member — the Republic of Türkiye. Launched at the 2022 UN Transforming Education Summit, the alliance is now the largest global coalition for climate education, uniting 100 countries and more than 2,000 organizations to green schools, curricula, teacher training, and communities, with the aim that every learner is climate-ready. Alongside the milestone, the Partnership is launching a Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group with Türkiye's education ministry and the OECD to strengthen data and accountability through its GEP Global Tracker. Children, young people, and teachers will sit at the center of the discussions shaping the next phase, GEP 2.0 — because the generation that will live with climate change should help design how it is taught.
