13,000 living kidney donors have given strangers a second chance

The National Kidney Registry has now made its 13,000th living-donor kidney transplant possible — 13,000 people who gave up a kidney so a stranger could live. The registry now handles nearly a third of all living-donor transplants in the U.S. Every number is a donor who said yes and a recipient who got tomorrow back.

The upbeat factorThirteen thousand yeses.
