166 new homes are coming so Enoch Cree Nation families can live at home again

Enoch Cree Nation (maskekosihk), a Treaty 6 First Nation beside Edmonton, is advancing a housing development that will prepare land for about 166 new homes — against a waiting list of roughly 350 families. The homes will be leased only to Nation members at affordable rates, with larger homes for multigenerational households and smaller ones for Elders. A $30 million loan from the Canada Infrastructure Bank — its largest investment yet in an Indigenous housing project — will fund roads, water, wastewater, utilities and solar installations for the site.

The upbeat factorfamilies who had to leave to find a home will be able to come back — and stay.
