$18 million to train the teachers: High Point University wins two of America's toughest education grants
High Point University's Stout School of Education has won two highly competitive US Department of Education grants totalling $18 million — a $6.6 million Teacher Quality Partnership grant and an $11.4 million Supporting Effective Educator Development grant, the largest competitive award in the university's history, in competitions where sometimes only about 5% of applicants succeed. Working with 17 local school districts in North Carolina, the funding will prepare 105 educators: 60 teachers earning a Master of Arts in Teaching and their licence, and 45 school leaders earning a Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
