27,511 households, six counties: South Sudan bets on its own farmers
South Sudan's seven-year Rural Enterprises for Agricultural Development project is expanding its reach: 27,511 rural households — roughly 162,000 farmers, producers, and entrepreneurs — across six counties. Run by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security with UNDP and the Cooperative Bank of South Sudan, backed by IFAD and the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program, the work so far includes 466 producer organizations profiled and 90 new village savings groups. Seeds, savings, and a plan written by the people it serves.
