271 miles on one charge: an electric motorbike crosses the Alps into the record books

Belgian rider Jelle Verstaen rode a standard Zero DS electric motorbike 271.23 miles (436.5 km) on a single charge, through the French and Italian Alps to the Mediterranean coast — beating the previous Guinness World Record by more than 78 miles. Two companions on other stock Zero models also covered well over 200 miles on public roads, finishing the last stretch through heavy rain. The record bike used only a factory-approved extra battery pack anyone can buy.

The upbeat factoran ordinary production bike, on ordinary roads, just quietly rewrote what electric range looks like.
