42 clinics, one quiet gift: better care for Ghana's new and expecting mothers
The non-profit BasicNeeds-Ghana has equipped 42 health facilities across six regions — 14 district hospitals and 28 smaller community clinics — with GH¢700,000 (about $60,000) of practical upgrades: air conditioners, ceiling fans, privacy curtains, desks and chairs. The equipment backs mental-health and psychosocial care for pregnant women, new mothers, teenage girls and women living with HIV or TB. Funding came from Expertise France's L'Initiative programme.
The upbeat factorsometimes the most radical upgrade is a curtain, a fan and a kind word while you heal.
