45 volunteers, one Friday, a safer home for a neighbour in Amani
On Milwaukee's north side, 45 volunteers spent a Friday doing plumbing, electrical and safety repairs on one Amani resident's home — grab bars, fixed wiring, a safer place to age in. It's one of 38 homes Revitalize Milwaukee will repair this year for low-income seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. Since 2000, the nonprofit has put $30.9 million into 4,400 homes. "It is amazing what we can do in just one day," said CEO Melanie Roach.
