46,000 women trained, 14,000 earning — Bangladesh's quiet workforce revolution
The ASSET skills programme set out to do more than train women — it set out to get them earning. Of 38,048 women assessed, nearly 70% qualified as competent, and 13,895 now have confirmed jobs or their own businesses, linked to factories and entrepreneurs by the Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce. "When a woman starts earning," said BWCCI president Sangita Ahmed, "the benefit is not limited to her alone."
