49.75 metres: 18-year-old Kadek Dwi just broke his own discus world record to take Asian Para Games gold
I Kadek Dwi Purwana Yasa is 18, from Mengwi in Bali, and he arrived at the Asian Para Games in Nagoya already holding the F57 discus world record. He left with a better one. His throw of 49.75 metres beat his own mark of 48.68, set earlier this year in Mexico, and smashed the Games record of 47.77 metres — gold for Indonesia, ahead of Uzbekistan's Yorkinbek Odilov (45.1 metres) and Iraq's Hussein Khazaee (45.06). It was Indonesia's second gold of the Games, won at the Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium in front of the full para-sport world.
The upbeat factora teenager from Bali out-threw his own world record on the biggest stage he has ever stood on.
