50 crore (500 million) video calls with a doctor — from India's remotest villages
India's national telemedicine platform eSanjeevani has crossed 50 crore (500 million) consultations, making it the world's largest primary-care telemedicine service. It runs in 15 languages across all 36 states and union territories, handling 2.5–3 lakh (250,000–300,000) consultations a day through 1.42 lakh (142,000) rural health spokes and nearly 20,000 hospital hubs. Women make up 57% of users, a new AI clinical-support tool just won a national e-governance gold award, and specialist video clinics at AIIMS hospitals mean patients can now see top doctors without the long journey.
The upbeat factorawe: half a billion consultations is what 'healthcare for everyone' looks like at scale.
