58,000 young volunteers are going door to door to end tuberculosis in India

Health Minister J.P. Nadda has deployed 58,000 young volunteers across 55 districts in 11 states — 6,347 squads of youth and cadet volunteers — to find hidden tuberculosis cases, get people tested and treated, and fight the stigma that keeps patients silent. The JOSH teams knock on doors, talk to families, and link every suspected case to care. At the same launch event, 67,933 village councils were honored as tuberculosis-free in 2026 — proof the national push is landing.
