6,894 farms will drink sunshine: Rs 210 crore (about $22 million) of solar pumps ordered for three states
CRI Solar has won orders worth Rs 210 crore (about $22 million) from the renewable energy agencies of Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab to supply, install and commission 6,894 solar pumping systems for farmers. Solar pumps free farms from diesel bills and unreliable grid power, delivering water when the sun shines — which is when crops want it. CRI says it has already installed more than 181,000 solar pump systems, saving an estimated 6,100 million kilowatt-hours of electricity and avoiding over 4.8 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. These 6,894 new pumps now move from order book to field on the agencies' timelines.
The upbeat factorevery pump is a small power station that pays its farmer back in water, savings and clean air.
