65 million meals in a year: Feeding India keeps hunger out of the classroom
Feeding India's annual report, released in New Delhi, counts what a year of showing up looks like: more than 6.5 crore (65 million) meals served to children in fiscal 2025-26. The not-for-profit now feeds over 1.7 lakh (170,000) children every day across more than 2,000 schools and anganwadis — India's community childcare centres — in 157 districts. Its daily programme alone served 5.8 crore (58 million) meals through 1,150-plus partner institutions, while its anganwadi work reached 39,000 younger children with 72 lakh (7.2 million) hot meals and spruced-up early-learning spaces. The children's verdict on the menus is also recorded: idli sambar and rajma rice lead the favourites.
