70 million acres saved — sealed with a new Bolivian reserve the size of a small country
Rainforest Trust has passed 70 million acres protected worldwide — an area roughly the size of Nevada — adding 10 million acres in just eight months. The milestone project is the new Agua Dulce Municipal Wildlife Reserve in Baures, Bolivia, created with local partner Faunagua: nearly 715,000 acres holding 11 vegetation types, more than 70 mammal species and 489 bird species, including jaguars, Amazon river dolphins, giant otters and black caimans. The reserve also locks in ecological connectivity between Bolivia and Brazil across six linked conservation areas.
The upbeat factoran area the size of Nevada, forever wild.
