863,500 doses, 836,000 children: Tajikistan opens ten days of measles and rubella protection
From today until November 6, health teams across 53 cities and districts in Tajikistan are running additional immunisation days against measles and rubella for children aged six months to five years. The target is about 836,000 children, and the doses are ready: UNICEF has procured and supplied 863,500 doses of vaccine, most financed by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, with the rest co-financed by the government. The campaign aims to close the immunity gaps that let measles keep spreading this year — and to make sure the youngest children, who made up four in five confirmed cases, are protected first.
The upbeat factorten days, fifty-three districts, and a simple promise — every small child within reach of a vaccine gets one.
