A 10km walk through Cape Town's Deep South aims to put new school shoes on 140 children's feet

A pair of school shoes sounds small — until a child in foster care walks into a new classroom without them. On Sunday, November 8, residents of Cape Town's Deep South will lace up for the 13th Annual Home from Home Amble, a scenic 10km stroll from Scarborough to Kommetjie that raises funds for brand-new school shoes for 140 children and young people. At R200 (about $12) a pair, every walker helps a child start the 2027 school year feeling proud and ready. Home from Home runs 35 foster homes in 16 Western Cape communities, caring for more than 200 children and young people.
