A 200-megawatt handshake will carry Zambian sunshine to customers across southern Africa
At the Energy Forum for Africa in Lusaka, regional power trader Africa GreenCo signed its largest deal yet: a 200-megawatt agreement to buy the output of AXIAN's Kudu solar plant in Zambia — about 530 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity a year. GreenCo will sell that power on to utilities, mines, and businesses across the Southern African Power Pool, giving the project's builders a bankable buyer and giving customers clean electricity they could not secure alone. After the 2024 drought exposed how fragile hydro-dependent power can be, deals like this one are how the region builds a sturdier, sunnier mix.
The upbeat factorone signature turns a Zambian solar field into reliable clean power for a whole region.
