A 210-megawatt electrolyser for Mexico: Pacifico Mexinol signs its builders
In Sinaloa, Mexico, one of the world's largest planned ultra-low-carbon methanol plants has taken a concrete step from blueprint to building contract. Transition Industries has signed a definitive engineering and construction agreement with Siemens Energy and Techint for the roughly 210-megawatt electrolyser at its Pacifico Mexinol project — Siemens Energy's largest electrolyser installation in the Americas, using its Elyzer P-300 technology to make renewable hydrogen. The wider complex is designed to produce 6,130 metric tons of methanol a day, including about 175,000 tons a year of renewable-fuel methanol. Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 once financing conditions are met, with operations targeted for 2030.
