A 4,000-bed hospital is rising in Eldoret — starting with 2,000 beds and 600 new health jobs

Kenya's Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru confirmed on 12 October that phase one of a new Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret has begun, supervised by the Kenya Defence Forces. The first phase is a 2,000-bed facility on 200 acres at Kiplombe Farm in Uasin Gishu County, due in 2027, with a second 2,000-bed phase to follow. Once complete, the hospital is expected to employ 600 new health workers and offer transplants and surgery that are currently unavailable in the country.

The upbeat factorspecialist care that Kenyans once had to travel far — or go without — to find is being built within reach.
