Scott Lacey, who lost his vision in 2009, became the first known visually impaired athlete to swim the 8.2-mile perimeter of Michigan's Mackinac Island, spending more than nine hours in open water with a tethered support team. He's also finished the Boston Marathon and Ironman triathlons. His message: the expectation shouldn't be that disabled people can't — just that they might do it differently.

The upbeat factorNine hours, 8.2 miles, zero excuses accepted.
