A blood test that catches cancer's travelling cells is now paired with genomic testing in India
Some cancers announce their return through cells travelling in the blood long before a scan can see anything. At CAMO 2026, the international cancer symposium hosted by ACTREC, Tata Memorial Centre in Navi Mumbai, Indian company Actorius presented its combined liquid-biopsy toolkit: new genomic (NGS) tests that read tumour DNA and RNA from a blood sample to guide treatment and watch for leftover disease, alongside OncoDiscover — India's first and only CDSCO-cleared clinical test for detecting circulating tumour cells, the rare cells cancers shed into the bloodstream, usable across more than fifteen solid tumour types. The approach drew praise from Professors Klaus Pantel and Catherine Alix-Panabières, the researchers who coined the term 'liquid biopsy' in 2010 — homegrown Indian science, earning the field founders' respect.
