A Bogotá music festival just turned concert tickets into Amazon protection — COP 181 million (about $56,000) of it
At Festival Cordillera in Bogotá, every ticket quietly carried a forest with it: US$2 from each purchase went to Ecos de la Amazonía, a new fund for social enterprises protecting the Colombian Amazon, at a rate the organisers equate to stewarding 1,200 square metres of rainforest per ticket. Launched by Páramo Impacta and NESsT, a nonprofit impact investor, the fund raised COP 181.4 million (about $56,000) at the festival's fifth edition. The money will back businesses that earn sustainable incomes for Amazonian communities while keeping forest standing — in a country that recorded 113,608 hectares of deforestation in 2024. The partners hope music and cultural events become a repeatable way to fund the forest: a crowd that came for the songs, leaving as patrons of the Amazon.
