A daily injection people can give themselves: new autoinjector approved for a rare muscle disease
For adults living with generalised myasthenia gravis — a rare autoimmune disease that weakens muscles — treatment with UCB's Zilbrysq has meant a daily injection prepared and given in a clinical style. The US Food and Drug Administration has now approved a ready-to-use autoinjector version that patients can administer themselves at home. In a study of 100 patients, caregivers and clinicians, 90% managed their first injection successfully without training. UCB expects the autoinjector to reach patients in early 2027, alongside its existing medicines for the condition.
