A first-of-its-kind radiation therapy just slowed a rare cancer in a final-stage trial
For people with advanced neuroendocrine tumours of the gut and pancreas whose cancer kept growing after standard radiation treatment, options were thin. Bristol Myers Squibb says an interim look at the Phase 3 ACTION-1 trial found its alpha-based therapy RYZ101 improved progression-free survival compared with standard care — the first Phase 3 results for this kind of targeted radiation in any cancer. The company plans to take the data to US regulators; full details will come at a future medical meeting.
The upbeat factora gentler, more precise kind of radiation gave people with few options more time without their cancer advancing.
