A free course teaches young Africans to outsmart online scammers

Junior Achievement Africa has launched CyberSmart, a free course in English and French built around the online risks young people actually face, from mobile-money fraud to fake urgent messages and AI-made phishing. Three short, interactive modules — with videos, quizzes and everyday scenarios — teach simple habits like protecting PINs and checking a sender before tapping. It runs on any internet-connected device through a learning platform that has already reached more than 100,000 young people across Africa since 2020.
