A golden night in Northamptonshire: £60,000 (about $82,000) raised for 50 years of family care

Fifty years of quiet, expert kindness got a black-tie celebration: Cynthia Spencer Hospice, which has supported families across Northamptonshire with specialist end-of-life care for half a century, marked its golden anniversary with a gala that raised more than £60,000 (about $82,000) in a single evening. The money will help ensure patients and their loved ones receive comfort, dignity and expert support when they need it most. 'Our gala was a wonderful tribute to 50 years of support for local families, made even more special by the kindness of our supporters,' the charity said. 'We couldn't have done it without you.'

The upbeat factorhalf a century of being there at life's hardest moments — and a community that showed up to say thank you.
