A heart drug is keeping more patients out of the hospital
A heart condition called ATTR-CM — where a misshapen protein stiffens the heart muscle — may have a stronger treatment. New independent real-world evidence, presented at the Heart Failure Society of America meeting in Phoenix, followed about 2,700 patients and found those taking acoramidis faced roughly a quarter fewer heart-related hospitalizations than those on an older drug, tafamidis. An earlier claims study had already shown 34% fewer worsening events. Doctors say keeping people stable and out of the hospital is the goal — and the data suggest this drug is doing exactly that.
