When breast cancer outsmarts treatment, it may be following orders from an enzyme nobody suspected. Naama Kanarek and Taru Muranen at Boston Children's caught FAH — thought to be a humble metabolic worker — moonlighting inside the nucleus of resistant tumor cells, driving resistance to standard CDK4/6 drugs. Block its partner CDK9, and the resistance reverses. For the most common breast cancer subtype, that's a brand-new door, published in Science Advances.
