A home is more than four walls: UN marks World Habitat Day with a global push for housing for all

On World Habitat Day, UN-Habitat chief Anacláudia Rossbach reminded the world that adequate housing — denied to more than three billion people, over one billion of them in slums — is 'a foundation for a dignified life.' Secretary-General António Guterres urged that housing be treated as a public good and financing reformed so developing countries can invest at scale. The observance opens Urban October, a month of action running to World Cities Day on 31 October.
