A Jurassic crocodile with comb-thin teeth surfaces in Morocco

In rocks that were once rivers and lakes in Morocco's Atlas Mountains, scientists from the University of Portsmouth and Hassan II University of Casablanca have identified a new species of ancient crocodile relative that lived about 170 million years ago. Named Ctenosuchus tenuidens — 'comb crocodile, thin teeth' — it had a long, narrow snout packed with needle-like teeth unlike any known relative, spotted first as tiny black circles under a microscope.

The upbeat factora whole new species was hiding in plain sight, in specks a microscope almost kept secret.
