A Korean university just won the 'Olympics of AI chips' — a first
Professor Jungrae Kim's team at Sungkyunkwan University took Best Paper at ISCA 2026 in Raleigh, North Carolina — the first time any Korean institution has won the top prize in the conference's half-century history. Their 'Cerberus' design makes high-bandwidth memory, the fast memory AI chips depend on, both safer from errors and more efficient. Of 845 papers submitted, theirs stood alone.
