A mirror nudge smaller than a hair made NASA's Roman telescope sharper than promised
Engineers moved the Roman Space Telescope's secondary mirror by about one-sixteenth the width of a human hair — and its main camera now beats its image-quality goal by nearly 30%. With checkout passed, Roman is on track to release its first science images by early 2027, opening wide, fast surveys of dark matter, dark energy and distant worlds.
