A nearly $1 billion promise to Delaware's children

A 1932 will is still doing its work: the Alfred I. duPont Charitable Trust, The Nemours Foundation, and Delaware's attorney general announced a new Alfred I. duPont Charitable Fund — $950 million over 11 years for nonprofits serving children's health in Delaware, plus $237.5 million more to Nemours' Delaware programs. Delaware financier A.I. duPont asked that his fortune give 'first consideration' to Delaware's children and low-income seniors; before this fund, the trust had already distributed more than $5 billion to Nemours. Grant-making will run well past the 11-year commitment.
