A new FDA-approved option arrives for people with thyroid eye disease

The US Food and Drug Administration has approved Roche's Enspryng for adults with thyroid eye disease, a rare autoimmune condition. It is the medicine's second approved use in the USA — it was first cleared in 2020 for a different autoimmune disease, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder — and the new decision rests on results from two late-stage studies, the company said. The regulator is also reviewing the drug for another condition, a sign researchers keep finding new work for a medicine that already helps people.

The upbeat factora proven medicine finds a second job — and people with a rare eye disease gain one more approved choice.
