A one-time gut procedure helps people keep lost weight off after GLP-1 drugs end
Many people regain weight after stopping GLP-1 medicines, the popular weight-loss injections. Fractyl Health's Revita — a one-time procedure that resurfaces the lining of the upper intestine — met its six-month goal in the REMAIN-1 pivotal study of 308 adults who had stopped GLP-1 therapy: participants kept 80% of their weight loss, against 67% with a sham procedure, and a third were stable or still losing at six months, against 18% for sham. The treatment was generally well tolerated, with no serious side effects linked to the device or procedure, and the company plans to seek US marketing authorisation later this year.
