A printed cover for healthy cells could give more cancer patients a clear DNA reading

About a quarter of tumor samples sent for DNA testing do not contain enough tumor DNA — labs need at least 30% — to help doctors choose a targeted drug. A team at QuantumCyte built an AI-guided tool that finds the tumor's edges on a biopsy slide and prints a thin cover over the healthy tissue, leaving only tumor cells to collect. In a side-by-side hospital test in Singapore, the method found usable DNA, and in one case an extra drug marker, where the usual process came up short. The tool still needs formal clinical validation before wider use.
