A record 250 plantation children reached university — one is training to be a doctor
Over the past two years, nearly 250 children from Sri Lanka's plantation families have earned university places — the highest number on record — and primary enrolment in plantation communities has reached 100%. Among them is a young man from Strathspey Estate now training as a doctor at Eastern University, supported by the Roots to Wings scholarship that covers laptops, books and start-up costs so a place at university is never lost to poverty.
