A rocket's dawn plume blooms into a 'jellyfish' over the US East Coast

Early risers along the US East Coast on October 13 looked up and saw something impossible: a glowing jellyfish drifting across the dawn sky. It was sunlight catching the exhaust plume of NASA's SpaceX CRS-35 mission, launched at 6:33 a.m. from Cape Canaveral. Below the light show is serious cargo: a Dragon capsule carrying more than 6,300 pounds of supplies, the space station's final pair of roll-out solar wings, and experiments ranging from artificial retinas to heart tissue grown in weightlessness. Dragon docks with the station on October 15 — the jellyfish, sadly, was one morning only.

The upbeat factorfor a few minutes, a supply run to orbit turned the whole eastern sky into a wonder.
