A sea turtle may have nested in California for the first time ever

Sea turtles normally nest far south of California. But according to NPR's All Things Considered, scientists believe one just did something that may never have happened before: a natural sea turtle nesting on California's shores, likely thanks to unusually warm ocean waters. Marine ecologist Jeff Seminoff talked through the discovery — part science story, part welcome surprise. If confirmed, it would be an unprecedented northward nesting event — a small, flippered vote of confidence in a coastline the turtles never used before.

The upbeat factorDelight with flippers — the ocean keeps surprising us.
