A simple swallow test spots a hidden cancer risk — no hospital scope needed
Many people at risk of a serious throat cancer never get checked, because the standard test means a hospital visit, sedation and a camera scope. Cyted Health's EndoSign test offers a gentler front door: a patient swallows a small capsule-sponge device that collects cells in minutes, with no sedation, and a lab checks those cells for warning markers of Barrett's esophagus, a hidden condition that can come before cancer. In the DETECT-ME study at 18 sites across the USA, presented today in Nashville, the test found 90% of Barrett's cases among 324 participants — and every single case of the highest-risk changes. Sampling worked in 95% of patients, with no device-related safety problems, and most people rated the test easy to tolerate. A positive result still means a follow-up scope — but now the right people get sent for one, sooner.
