A Sri Lankan vet flies to Karachi to help save Madhubala, the ailing elephant
Sri Lankan wildlife veterinarian Dr Buddhika Bandara flew to Karachi to join Four Paws' Dr Amir Khalil and the Safari Park vet team in a joint medical examination of Madhubala, a female African elephant that has lost drastic weight and collapsed twice. The vets found bacterial and parasitic infections, weakness following tuberculosis treatment, and a suspected fracture in a wrist joint. Local authorities invited the foreign experts after Safari Park vets could not pin down the cause of her decline.
The upbeat factorborders disappear when a life needs saving - vets from two continents, one elephant.
