A young Kenyan's soil-first farm just won him $96,000 to feed more children

Odwour Midigo's Ndaloh Heritage Organisation tackles malnutrition in western Kenya the regenerative way — school nutrition programmes, fortified food, and training for smallholder farmers, especially women and youth, in climate-smart practices that restore soil while raising incomes. The Mandela Rhodes Foundation's 2026 Äänit Prize gives him $96,000 to reach more farmers. "This award is not only a celebration," he said, "but an opportunity to deepen our impact."
