A youth-led Latin American nonprofit just won .ORG of the Year — a first for the region

TECHO, a youth-led nonprofit fighting extreme poverty in Latin America's informal settlements, won .ORG of the Year plus the Community Building category at the Public Interest Registry's 8th annual .ORG Impact Awards — the first Latin America-based organization to take the top award, from more than 4,200 applicants in 145 countries. The win comes with a $50,000 donation; $180,000 across seven categories; the program has awarded more than $1 million since launch. The ceremony in Washington, D.C. on October 6 was hosted by Karamo of Queer Eye. TECHO's Global CEO Juan José Ayerza: lasting change happens when communities come together.
