An airport that makes its own sunshine: Bristol passes 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of solar power
Bristol Airport in England has generated more than 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of solar electricity so far in 2026 — 20 percent more than last year, and enough for about 680 homes for a year. Its panels power electric buses, terminal equipment and lighting. A new £10 million (about $14 million) energy centre, opening later this year, will heat and cool the terminal with electric heat pumps instead of gas.
The upbeat factoreven an airport can run a little more on sunshine — 20 percent more of it this year.
