An Indigenous-co-owned solar project in Colombia's Sierra Nevada wins Latin America's top ESG energy deal award

In Colombia's Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Arhuaco People did not just host a clean-energy project — they co-developed it. TERRA Site I, built with Greenwood Energy, has won ESG Renewable Energy Deal of the Year, Latin America, at the 2026 Infra Global ESG Awards in London, chosen by an international jury. The project reached financial close in December 2025 and is described as the first of its scale in Latin America to do so through a partnership between an energy developer and an Indigenous community — a model where the people of the mountains share ownership of what the sun provides.
