Astronomers found a hidden galaxy almost as old as the universe
Buried in early test images from the Vera Rubin Observatory, astronomers spotted Aquarius IV — a faint, 13-billion-year-old dwarf galaxy orbiting our own, so dim it barely outshines a single bright star. It's the first ultra-faint satellite pulled from Rubin data, and the survey has barely begun. The universe keeps hiding galaxies; we keep finding them.
The upbeat factorThirteen billion years old, found in test data.
