At 67, Joe Barr rode all 2,448 miles of Route 66 into the record books

Joe Barr of County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, has set the first Guinness World Record for cycling the full length of Route 66 — 2,448 miles (about 3,940 km) from Santa Monica to Chicago — in 10 days, 6 hours and 27 minutes. The former ultra-cycling world champion crossed the finish line the day before his 67th birthday, in the highway's centennial year. Age, he said, doesn't have to remove ambition — or the desire to keep pushing limits.

The upbeat factorproof that the appetite for a big, audacious goal has no expiry date.
