At 69, he cycled the planet — 30,000 km for the wife he lost

Mark Herbst set off from Bangkok in January 2025 and didn't stop until he'd ridden through 25 countries and back again — 324 days, 30,000 kilometres, and a Guinness World Records title as the oldest person to circumnavigate the globe by bicycle. He rode for Jackie, his wife of 25 years, who died of cancer at 55, and raised $70,000 for cancer research along the way. "Use and enjoy good health while we can," he said. "I will not look back and say I wish I had done more."
